Thread: Thunderstone:: Rules:: Repeat question on Repeats

Returning to the game again I'm a bit puzzled by the entire "Repeat Dungeon" ability; the explanations offered are a bit cryptic.
When you "repeat the effect" with a card what exactly does that mean?
You can choose to have a second round in the dungeon using ALL the cards in your hand - and perhaps kill a second monster? (if you ONLY use the card carrying the effect there's not much you can do, right?)
And once you kill the first monster and draw a new one, can you go after the new arrival using the repeat effect?
A spelled out explanation with an example would be very useful.
Thanks
Vlad

Must the Dungeon be filled with three cards at all times? Say near the end of my game with the last three cards in the Monster Hall, the TS in Rank 2 and I'm unable to defeat the Rank 1 monster, can I choose to go for the Rank 3 dude, leave the remaining cards for next turn?

Hi there,
we are having some argues with my gaming group over the rules of Thunderstone in comparison with the advance rules for "battle" effects.
I know that in the basic Thunderstone some of them have an instant effect and others like "destroy that..." are applied at the very end of the battle. I am ok with that althouth i prefer the clarified rules of the advance sometimes.

As we like more the clearer text on TS advance we only got the starter set and as for the Thunderstone we own the basic box with the 2 expansions "Heart of Doom" and "Thornwood siege". Here is my question then.
Is it possible to treat every "battle" effect in the basic Thunderstone as battle effects like in advance (apply everything before the start of the battle)?

Has anyone tried it out there and does it work with every expansion of the Thunderstone? I suppose the traits and attacks/strengths/e.c. are modified accordingly to each rule but you get the idea.. just wondering!!

Hi,

I recently got a copy of Thunderstone and played my first solo game yesterday. It was an awful defeat and I wanted to quickly clarify the rules.

To my understanding: While most rules are the same as for a 2+ player game, the main difference is the way the dungeon populates. Only draw your first monster after the first turn and place it in Rank 3. At the end of each following round draw a new monster and slide the previous one down one Rank. If a new draw pushes one monster from Rank 1 into Rank 0, it will go into the village pile and count against the victory points at the end of the game.

What I am not sure about is what happens after you defeated a monster. Is it correct that you don't draw a new one at the end of that round, but slide the available monsters down? Or do you not draw a new one and leave the rest of the monsters as they are until you draw a new one?

Yesterday I drew a new monster every round, which I didn't manage to fight off quickly enough as I didn't have time to upgrade.

Thanks!

First time I had this scenario this week. So the monster in the dungeon is immune to magic attack but would you still get the attack bonus for equipping weapons (which isn't a magic attack bonus) for carrying magic weapons that you are not able to use? My group ruled you would but we are not so sure, as the hero had +2 attack if carrying a weapon and another hero gave me +1 attack for all equipped heroes. I had two heros with two magic staffs which also gave me light that we used, all in all giving me enough normal attack (if they count) to take out a magic attack immune monster.

At which point can you actually lose a fight? I mean since I can see the hall and I know what is in my hand, why would I choose to fight a monster if I know I cannot win?

I am sure I am missing something here

Hi

Why is there a purchase cost on level 2 and 3 heores? Does it mean they can be purchased with gold instead of exp?

Once I kill a monster, it goes in my discard. When I draw it again, and if it has a Battle effect (for example: Battle Destroy 1 food). Does it apply again? Or does it just apply when I battle it in the dungeon?

What happens when the dungeon level deck runs out? Do you not repopulate those rooms, shuffle and repopulate, or repopulate from the next higher level? Of course there could be somefin else.

Thread: Thunderstone:: Rules:: Food and revenant timing

For context, I am playing the version on Yucata.
The Revenant says it inflicts -4 strength, and any hero with strength 0 or less dies.
If have a 4-strength hero who eats food and gains 2 strength, they have now have 6-strength.

Does this hero die, or does the food protect them?
Basically, how does the timing work: when does the revenant's penalty apply, and how long does the food last?

And, more generally, is there a rule of thumb for this kind of thing I can follow (monster penalty vs food perk)?

Thread: Thunderstone:: Rules:: Warhammer cleric bonus: works on any card with "Doomknight" in title?

The Warhammer is supposed to have a +3 for Clerics against Doomknights and Undead.
Does this include any card with "Doomknight", even the combo types?
Specifically, the Dark Champion, which is a Doomknight-Guardian?
